Dr. Douglas John Thompson earned his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Wake Forest University, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Thompson went on to do a residency in internal medicine at Emory University followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Thompson is board certified in hematology and oncology and is currently participating in the ABIM program. Dr. Thompson is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. He has participated in many research projects and publications.
In his spare time, Dr. Thompson is an avid endurance athlete, having run more than 135 marathons and ultra marathons over the last 19 years, including running a marathon or ultra on all seven continents, the North Pole and all 50 states.
