Dr. Deyanira Prastein earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine in Richmond, Va. She did her residency in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Prastein did a fellowship in cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support at Cambridge University, Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK, followed by a fellowship in thoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Dr. Prastein is board certified in cardiothoracic surgery. She is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Prastein specializes in all aspects of cardiothoracic care, including minimally-invasive diagnosis and treatment and cardiothoracic surgery. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
